Out of sight, out of their minds: It's a school-trip splatter fest and completely not cool when the other kids in her class go all braindead on new girl Bobby. The day of the ski trip, when the bus comes to a stop at a roadside restaurant, everyone gets off and heads in for lunch. Everyone, that is, except Bobby, the new girl, who stays behind with rebel-without-a-clue Smitty. Then hours pass. Snow piles up. Sun goes down. Bobby and Smitty start to flirt. Start to stress. Till finally they see the other kids stumbling back. But they've changed. And not in a good way. Straight up, they're zombies. So the wheels on the bus better go round and round freakin' fast, because that's the only thing keeping Bobby and Smitty from becoming their classmates' next meal. It's kill or be killed in these hunger games, heads are gonna roll, and homework is most definitely gonna be late. Combining the chill of THE SHINING, the thrill ride of SPEED, the humor of SHAUN OF THE DEAD, and the angst of THE BREAKFAST CLUB, Kirsty McKay's UNDEAD is a bloody mad mash-up, a school-trip splatter-fest, a funny, gory, frighteningly good debut!
This is one book I got into without really knowing what to expect, but I have to say I was quite happy with Undead. It was just the kind of books I needed, the kind of book you can easily read in one sitting. It is so easy to get lost in the story, and it is really fun to read. Zombie lovers will be happy with this light read. The great thing about this book it’s that there is a few hilarious scene that makes it a great read for those, like me, who were on a reading slump. It simply cheered me up after a few deceptions.
This is not a terrifying zombie book. Far from it. It is simply an entertaining novel. Be aware, it isn’t the kind of book that gives you a lot of character depth, or an overly complicated plot. It’s simply the kind of book that will put a smile on your face, that will take the stress away, that will make you laugh.
This book has the kind of zombie movie vibe to it. Don’t go into this book thinking you’ll make deep connection with the characters, or fall in love with some kind of hottie. This is the kind of book that will keep you entertained! You won’t read this book because it is the best zombie novel ever written. It isn’t. You’ll read it if you’re looking for a funny and light book. That’s personally why I would recommend it!
