My first time doing it!
Q. Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).
It is definitely Harry Potter. It made me addicted to books. I start reading this series I was about 9 years old. My aunt had brought her copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Harry Potter à l’école des sorciers in French) from Switzerland. She lived there and told us how popular it was getting in Europe and gave her copy to my sister. I already liked book had that time, and because my sister didn’t take the time during that summer to read it, I did. I fell in love with the world, and I have been since then.
This series always have been there to cheer me up through every thing in my life. I don’t remember how many times I’ve read it. I’m in love with the characters. I just think it shows how people my age were dealing with so many things, some of which I was going through (Not fighting a dark wizard of course, but the emotional stuff.)
Harry Potter is also what got me reading books in English. It made me fall in love with the language, motivating me to change from a French college, to an English one. Since then, I’ve been reading mostly the original version of any books that I’m interested in, unless it is Japanese…
What about you?
