Now, Spellcaster
was a sequel I was really excited to read. I had really enjoyed the first
novel, so how could I not be excited about more of Emma and Brendan?
One thing that I
really liked about the novel is Brendan and Emma’s relationship. Why? I just feel
it is well balanced. Yes, Brendan is supposedly super hot (which is repeated I
don’t know how many time. The only thing that really got on my nerve with this
novel to be franc.), but it doesn’t stop Emma from understanding that her fear
that he is too good for him aren’t founded (which can be seen a little at some
point in the novel).
No, for most of
the novel, we see both of them taking risk the other would have rather they
hadn’t. Still, they understood, which I think is really thanks to Angelique. Angelique
was the one at some point to tell Brendan to imagine how he would react if he
was in her shoes and she was in his. That, to me, made their relation really
interesting to follow.
The villain of
the story really surprised me at first. I didn’t really expect it to be that
one person (trying to keep as much info to myself as I can. Wouldn’t want to
spoil it for anyone.) I had so many scenarios in my head (maybe that’s why I
didn’t really see it coming…), but I was wrong! It really got me addicted from
the beginning.
Now, I have to
say, Cara Lynn Shultz was once again able to keep me addicted from page one to
the last. I was so captivated that I read it in one sitting (while I was
waiting for one of my friends… Drinking a good Vanilla Soy Latte… Which ended
getting cold because I COULDN’T KEEP MY HEAD OUT OF THIS BOOK! )
