To save the life of the boy she loves, Jacinda did the unthinkable: She betrayed the most closely-guarded secret of her kind. Now she must return to the protection of her pride knowing she might never see Will again—and worse, that because his mind has been shaded, Will’s memories of that fateful night and why she had to flee are gone.
Back home, Jacinda is greeted with hostility and must work to prove her loyalty for both her sake and her family’s. Among the few who will even talk to her are Cassian, the pride’s heir apparent who has always wanted her, and her sister, Tamra, who has been forever changed by a twist of fate. Jacinda knows that she should forget Will and move on—that if he managed to remember and keep his promise to find her, it would only endanger them both. Yet she clings to the hope that someday they will be together again. When the chance arrives to follow her heart, will she risk everything for love?
In bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s dramatic follow-up to Firelight, forbidden love burns brighter than ever.

I was captivated again by the world of Sophie Jordan. Vanish may not have been as good as Firelight, but it was still pretty good to me.

I felt like this book was less about love and action, but more about the struggle within Jacinda. She has to decide between doing what she is expected to do, and doing what she wants to do.  She has to face her decision. She has also to face the consequences of them. That’s what I really liked about her journey. She doesn’t just get to do what she wants without facing the consequences. The ending was amazingly written. It opens a door for the third book being completely cruel.

The story starts right where Firelight ended. Jacinda can’t seem to have some time to relax before she is forced into something else. I may not always agree with Jacinda’s actions, but I understand where they come from. I enjoy reading about her. She is a great main character, torn between her family, her pride and two amazing guys.

Cassian and Will were both great. I love the strength and personality of Cassian. He was my favorite character in this book. I felt like he really wanted to do what he could so Jacinda would be happy, even if it may not end with his happiness. Will was cute with Jacinda, but I felt like he couldn’t see farther than Jacinda and him. He wasn’t able to see how their decision may affect their family. That’s one of the things that annoyed me with him. It was all about him. Where Jacinda realized that there would be consequences, all he saw was Jacinda. It may be sweet, but it is also stupid to me.

Sophie Jordan’s writing is beautifully fun and captivating. She makes us feel what Jacinda is going through with ease. If you loved Firelight, you will adore this sequel.

PS. Small mistake maybe? You said "Vanish might not be as good as Vanish..." I'm guessing you meant to put Firelight lol? Just thought I'd point it out!

  3. I agree with you that Vanish wasn't quite as good as Firelight. You also make an excellent point about Will's character. I am eager for the next book to find out what will happen! Nice review.
