Let’s start with the superficial part of this review. I absolutely love this cover. I think this book is really pretty, that it looks really good in my bookshelf. This is one of the reasons why I picked this book, the other being that it is Mahoney’s first novel.

The content of this book was disappointing. For half or the book, nothing really happened. I feel like this is half a book, like there is a lot missing from it. I know there will be a sequel, but this book isn’t complete to me. If it takes that long for the plot to really start, you need to give us a least as much action after it. I would read a chapter I tell myself “Oh, something is finally gonna happen”, but no it didn’t. The ending just doesn’t satisfy me. It is not enough. There are too many things missing. I felt like she had this big idea for a novel, but got bored and decide just to end it.

The characters were okay. I like Xan and I sometime like Donna, but honestly, they couldn’t get me into the story. I don’t feel like we really get to know the characters. There is too much information missing.

The writing was probably the only thing that got me through this book. I like the way Mahoney writes, just didn’t enjoy what she wrote.

This book didn’t make it for me. I’m curious to know what will happen next, but I feel cheated, as if half the book was missing simply to make me buy the next one. The positive side is that it isn’t a hardcover, so it wasn’t too expensive…

Overall, I would give it a 5/10, because I feel like there is too much missing.
